Crazy time’s in St. Pete
I missed you last month! Hurricane Helene took out our precious art gallery on Pass-a-grille Beach. Hopefully, we can put her back together again. It wasn’t two weeks later that I came home after evacuating because of Hurricane Milton to find my condo wet. It had to be professionally dried out, the flooring ripped out, and everything put back together again. Talk about being tired to the bone. My heart aches for our community and many other communities devastated by these storms. I am glad to be back to where I left off pre-storm. It’s another reminder we never know what the day will bring, but I found staying in the moment and finding the gratitude in the smallest things gave me the strength to keep going…and what a blessing it is to have good friends and neighbors.
Something NEW for You – A Weekly Newsletter called
1-2-3 Let it Be EASY Wednesday
Sustenance for the Body, Mind, and Soul – Savor!
Welcome to my weekly newsletter, which contains actionable steps to make your life easier and less anxious. We all have limitations and routines that keep us in our comfort zone. I offer weekly practices to help you recognize the thoughts and behaviors that rob happiness. Taking action enriches your inner life, and your outer life will be joyous as you unencumber yourself from things that cloud your highest good.
I’ll address a weekly topic and offer practices, shifts, quotes, and questions to feed your body, mind, and spirit. There will be one practice to tune into the body, two shifts to observe the mind, and three quotes and/or questions to awaken the soul.
This week’s topic – How to Break Inertia
1 Practice to Tune into the Body
Sometimes, just changing your physical environment can break inertia. Can’t seem to get off the couch? Set your phone timer for ten minutes and go for a walk…tune into your body and feel the difference between being sedentary and being energetic.
2 Shifts to Observe the Mind…with curiosity and an open heart
Sometimes, inertia stems from self-criticism or anxiety about what you “should” be doing. Shifting your thoughts from “should-ing” yourself to being compassionate with yourself can reduce self-inflicted pressure.
Observe what you are doing when you feel your energy waning. Consider doing less of what drains you.
3 Quotes and/or Questions to Awaken the Soul
Nothing happens until something moves. – Albert Einstein
“Some people, in working towards a goal, find themselves seized by inertia when it comes time for action. If this should happen to you, despite the small, graduated steps, then it is time to re-examine your goal. Consider how important it actually is and then either discard the goal and replace it with a more suitable one or continue the steps with a renewed sense of the value of achieving it.” ~ Fitzhugh Dodson
A question to ponder when you are seized by inertia is, “Is this goal I am trying to achieve in alignment with my soul’s desire?”
