Sharing Lessons Learned from Writing My Book
A year ago today, I launched my first book. The above picture was displayed on the megatron in Times Square that day. With the help of a lot of friends, I hit Amazon #1 Bestseller in four categories and #1 New Release in six categories. 
That was a fine day….four years in the making. Less than 1% of people who want to write a book actually publish one. Why was I one of the 1%, and how can my lessons learned translate to you achieving your goals and desires?

I believe the same roadmap that got my book to the finish line translates to anything we want to achieve… a healthy body, a disciplined mind, a less anxious and more peaceful life, raising a happy child, or deepening a relationship.  
Hold a vision, not an expectation, of what you want to achieve and imagine how you’ll feel when you get there.
Make a list of all the baby steps you can take toward your goal.

Start with small, achievable steps….instead of saying you want to lose 75 lbs, start with 10 lbs. Don’t set yourself up to feel defeated before you get started.
Most importantly, simply observe when you don’t hit your target. Perhaps you could walk for five minutes instead of your desired 10 minutes. Give yourself grace.
Ask other people how they reach their goals and try incorporating their strategy into your day. 
Remember, every minute we can begin again.
Go for practice, not perfection. Achieving our desires takes practice. All the intellectual know-how in the world doesn’t create forward motion.   
Developing a stronger mental muscle is akin to physical training. Just as we build physical strength through regular exercise, we can enhance our mental resilience through consistent practice.
By reinforcing positive habits and thought patterns, and being gentle with ourselves in the process, we gradually rewire our brains to support our goals. Over time, these practices become second nature, empowering us to navigate life’s challenges with grace and confidence, ultimately leading us to the fulfillment of our aspirations.

1  Practice to Tune into Your Body
When you feel mental resistance while working on achieving a goal, notice where you are holding tension in your body. Breathe into the area until the feeling passes. 

2 Shifts to Observe the Mind…with curiosity and an open heart.
When you observe your thoughts being negative, imagine they are floating by on clouds, allowing you to gain distance from them.
When you observe behaviors from the past that no longer serve you, think of one small step you can take to initiate a new behavior.

And drumroll…the Question
What is something you want to do that keeps coming up as a “hell yes…I want to do that”…taking an art class, learning a new language, writing a book, creating an online class? Do a little soul searching…how bad do you want it? If the answer is I do want it…re-read this newsletter from time to time…make a plan…and then have fun doing it!
