| Happiness Is an Inside Job…You’ve Got the Key 1-2-3 Let It Be EASY Sustenance for the Body, Mind, and Soul – Savor! We Already have the Roadmap to Our Happiness It’s easy to think that happiness will arrive when we get something external, like a new place to live, a promotion at work, or a life partner that checks all our boxes for the perfect mate. We often spend a lot of time fantasizing about what our ideal life is and how we will feel when we finally arrive. We can let that fantasizing go because there is no external situation that will guarantee our happiness. Why? Because desiring external things means living in a future beyond our control. Groucho Marx said, “Each morning when I open my eyes, I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.” The good news is we have the roadmap to that happiness now. What is it you ask? Simplified…We practice paying attention to our own life experiences. When we do this, it does two important things. First, it brings us out of being lost in thought into the present. Secondly, by paying attention to our actions and feelings, we can assess whether the act we’re engaged in leaves us feeling heavy and grumpy or light and happy. Reflect on how your body responds—does it feel tense or relaxed? In conclusion, the journey to happiness is not about chasing external achievements or waiting for the perfect circumstances to fall into place. Instead, it’s about embracing the present moment and being mindful of our own experiences. By cultivating awareness and tuning into how our actions and feelings affect us, we empower ourselves to choose happiness each day. This practice of presence and self-reflection allows us to navigate life with clarity, making choices that align with our true selves. It helps us make healthy boundaries when people or circumstances weigh us down. As we learn to listen to our inner cues and pay attention to what we are doing, we discover that happiness is not a distant destination but a state of being we can continually curate in the here and now. And remember, it’s all about practice….not perfection. Be gentle with your beautiful self and take time to happy dance! Big love to all of you. Thanks so much for being here, e’Layne 1 Practice to Tune into Your Body Whatever you are experiencing, tune into how it makes you feel in your body…tense, relaxed, anxious, angry, at ease. If you feel tense, what can you release that will make you feel relaxed and at ease? 2 Shifts to Observe the Mind…with curiosity and an open heart. Set a timer to go off at the same time every day. When it goes off, observe what you are experiencing and how it makes you feel. When you feel happy, take note of what you are doing…do more of that. 3 Quotes and a Question to Awaken the Soul “Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life” — Bob Marley. “True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future” — Ralph Waldo Emerson. “Remember that happiness is a way of travel, not a destination.” – Roy Goodman And drumroll…the Question When you think of the people you are happiest around, what qualities do they possess? Seek more friends with those qualities and cultivate them in yourself.
